Ship Searching Sunlight (poetry)

Written after the November 2015 Paris attacks. I'm really not much of a poet and I'm not a huge fan of this work, but I think it may have been the first time I sat down actually intending to write poetry - not music that ended up poetry instead. It was a poem completely composed for sake of catharsis.
The clouds are coming
The storm is breaching
The anger has me
The feeling - fleeting
I can’t bear to look
I don’t want to see
My greatest weakness
Is my empathy
The senseless killing
The meaningless death
It batters my hull
Finds my sails at rest
It’s moments like these
It is hard to feel
Every time I tried
My heart flashes keel
We all seek it out
We all do our best
‘What’s the point of life?’
The knowing, pointless
It’s moments like these
It is hard to think
My heart carries on
Its sad, solemn sink
To sail far away
To hide from it all
It is self-defense
Not antisocial
I am scared of you
I am scared of me
What lies within us?
In humanity?
